FAQ

What's all this then? And who are you?

Pop on over to the About section to learn the origins and aims of my bloggity-blog.

What does FitC mean?

FitC (pronounced fitzie) are the first letters in Flâneur in the City.

Had I known when I started this blog the public direction it was going to take, I would have certainly named it something easier to spell, pronounce and abbreviate. (The other choices, Flan Cit and F in the C, just sound dirty.)

Why don't you switch to Wordpress? Blogger sucks.

Variations on this question include: "Blogger is awesome! Never switch to Wordpress!" and "Why don't you go to another host/create a new site/be independent of free sites?"

For now, I am going to stick with Blogger. In the Spring of 2011, Blogger crashed for days at a time when the-powers-that-be began to play around with and implement dynamic Blogger Views that essentially turn blogs into apps. The Great Blogger Migration to Wordpress that occurred made me consider jumping ship as well, but a shaky Internet connection and the work involved moving 4 years of posts to a new site was something I was not prepared to do at the time. Since the Great Migration, Blogger has been fairly steady, and as I said in this post, Blogger (formally Blogspot) has been in my browser history since 2002. I've had around 13 blogs, with FitC being the largest and the one most used. Might as well stick with what I know, right?

Also, I am incredibly lazy, and properly moving blogging platforms takes a lot of work. Or money to pay someone else to do the work. And since I have no money, FitC will have to stay put.

Why are you a feminist? Do you hate men?

Absolutely not. I love men! I find them to be very delicious.

But congrats on assuming a tired stereotype! Variations on this question involve armpit hair, witchcraft, the laughable word "feminazi," and assessing my looks to see exactly how ugly/bangable I am.

Which is why I'm a feminist. Not because I cherish my armpit hair, but because the word "feminist" is connected to so many hateful stereotypes meant to bully and manipulate women into silence and submission.

A few years ago, there was a popular collection of phrases called, "I'm not a feminist, but ... " the ellipsis was followed by a feminist statement. Many of my readers would not call themselves feminist, but agree with every feminist statement I make. Someone who champions for equality for all people, regardless of sex, is a feminist. Simple as that.

Here at FitC, it's ninja feminism -- sneaky, accurate, cool, and ready. It's feminism that you may not have known about, but can agree with. And when it sneaks in, you may find yourself changed for the better.

Do you have a posting schedule?

Monday through Wednesday: Potluck

Thursday: Weekly Flâneur, images of city/town/urban scenes from around the world.

Friday: Friday QuoteDay, political, funny, inspiring and random quotes.

Weekends are sporadic, mostly due to my detailed and busy schedule of boozin'.

Do you accept submissions for Weekly Flâneur?

All of the Weekly Flâneur pictures were taken by me, but I will happily have a look as long as they are original photos owned by the submitter. No stealing! If you would like to submit, email me at flaneurinthecity@gmail.com.

Why did you change your banner?

Gotta keep it interesting!
